What a lovely edition we have this week
What a lovely edition we have this week. I watched Caroline Quentin on Lorraine talking about her new gardening book ‘Drawn to the Garden’ and I can honestly say after looking at her Instagram and hearing her talk about her love of gardening I had horticultural pangs of jealously.
I fully embrace city life and thoroughly enjoy returning to it after sojourns in the country, but nothing beats a garden you can while away the hours in and grow your own supper.
But moving to the country (yes, I’ve watched all the programs) frightens me. What would I complain about? No traffic, no crammed tubes, no silly one-ways, or noisy neighbourhoods, petitions to sign because some pea brain wants to reroute the number 19, the price of theatre tickets, orange barriers and cones everywhere doing nothing!
I walk to all amenity’s restaurants, coffee bars, the usual high street suspects, cinema, Waitrose which I expect to be open for one of my 8.50pm evening dashes. Oddly the older I get, the safer I feel in a city. So, if you live in a city or a built-up area look at the upside of having so much around you, including in my case, the accident unit!
Between a good pair of wellies and my bang on trend mac I’m smug when the rain comes down.
Why it’s taken me the greater part of my life to own a proper mac I don’t know, I’m bemused especially as it’s been one of my most worn coats since I purchased it. Mine gets a little muddy due to Soho jumping up with muddy paws, so when beyond wiping down it goes in a 30-degree wash with a good none-bio liquid and no conditioner. Never use biological its chemicals attack the waterproofing.
Thank you for our little revel in 80’s cinema what are yours? My favourites are When Harry Met Sally, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, ET, Die Hard (only the first 4) Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future and
The Shining. FYI Jack Nicholson stayed in our house (we weren’t in it at the time) when he was shooting part of the film at Elstree Studios. In his autobiography he talks about injuring his back scaling the outside wall when returning home a little worse for wear without a key.
I’ve made that dangerous move myself across the same wall but thankfully sobber so stayed in one piece.
Finally, a little book plug for all you Goddesses – I’ve just returned from the launch of, ‘The Goddess Path’ by Kirsty Gallagher (Not the TV presenter although she was there) I’m a huge fan and enriched by Kirsty’s teachings of feminine energy and the power it unleashes within us to cope with everyday life and more.
Please pick it up, put it by your bedside, dip in and feel the power.
What a team, Caroline grounds us to the earth through gardening while Kirsty lifts us up – We’re covered!
