A Great Thanks Giving
I had my first proper Canadian Thanks Giving this Year and managed 2 feasts in 2 days.I went to Corbin’s house on the Sunday – and if you’re not going to get a good lunch at a chef’s house it’s time to pack in – and the Monday saw me with my friends Joe and Dagma Houlihan who like me are Brits abroad embracing the festivities.
Thanks Giving in North America falls on the 2nd Monday in October and it is primarily to give thanks for a good harvest and the successful journeys the founding fathers made to be part of the New World.
Unlike Christmas there are no presents but everyone makes a big effort to sit down with family and friends for a traditional Roast. Corbin made a beautiful feast I contributed an Apple Crumble pimped up with cinnamon and a little orange zest.
My neck was on the block over the potatoes as I’d already shot my mouth off on how wonderful mine are… thankfully I pulled it off and praise from Corbin made my day!
