Our go-to Location
.
So, safely back in London after a truly amazing trip with Dad and my sister to The Galapagos. Keep a look out on my Instagram for pictures which I’m still going through and madly editing. How many Iguanas, sealions and blue footed booby shots can one possible need?
I learnt a great lesson when clearing out our family home last year that stored boxes and albums holding 1000’s of photographs. There was no way we could keep them all so my strategy was to keep ‘people pictures’ and of those only the best example of “Here’s me in front of a pyramid” not 20 versions.
Already though finding myself looking at bargain flights to Greece. We’ve touched on this subject before, but do you find yourself go back to the same place again and again?
Age, laziness, and not wanting to spend at least 2 days working out where everything is located is my excuse.
Even talking about our go-to location last night which is Santorini, we became excited reeling off a few resultants we love including one you need to take a small boat too, the chap driving thinks he’s auditioning for ‘Shirley Valentine’ and when you book, the owner makes out he’s rammed until the end of the season but we’ve never ceased to get a table. Then there’s our favourite beach club where I like their raised Bali beds and Mark prefers the beanbags - we end up with a raised Bali bed! Just down the beach there’s a rustic restaurant where apparently every dish has been created by their Grandmother, they’d pass a Magnum off as here if they could!
We always have, the same, argument about transport, Mark sees himself as Peter Fonda ‘Easy Rider’ and I prefer, for hair and personal safety, a Fiat 500 with aircon. Our compromise? A Quadbike for 4 days then I get my Fiat.
Totally support our push this week to keep hydrated as I saw it on the list went downstairs and poured myself a glass of water adding a sachet of electrolytes for good measure.
I have worked with Anton du Beke on many occasions and he’s the same in real life as he is in the studio. So, if you are lucky enough to get to his show with Giovanni Pernice, they will take you by the hand and make you feel as if you were in the ‘Strictly’ studio and their new best friend.
I’m a fan of the microwave (thank you for the tips MY) they save time, washing up and electricity. My new trick is scrambled eggs, it took me, not having a cooker for 4 weeks, to discover how brilliantly they cook them. This means I’m now eating a lot more of this quick source of protein, vitamin D and choline helping my bones, immune system metabolism and liver. Only item I will never use in a microwave is a plastic There are substances in plastics that when heated release chemicals into our food and we don’t want that.
